Great soft-focus coverage (Report Review)
Aug 08, 2011 by writergirl.m
Consumer rating: (5)
If you feel overwhelmed by all of the foundation options at the drugstore, and aren't sure what will offer you the best coverage and finish, I recommend taking a chance with this whipped foundation.
Trublend is Cover Girl's line of foundation, concealer, and powder designed to make matching your skin as simple as picking a number. This whipped foundation pot is just one of the options available, but I think it's the best by far.
The velvety smooth foundation is similar to the Dream Mousse line from Maybelline. It blends nicely into your skin and leaves you with a sort of soft-focus finish--it's matte, but it doesn't have the dry appearance of some matte foundations. It seems to minimize the appearance of pores, due to the finish.
The foundation seems to stay put through the day, even on my combo/oily skin. It doesn't settle into fine lines like some liquid or powder foundation tend to do.
The only thing I don't like about this product is the fact that it comes in a pot. That makes it very handy for dipping with a foundation brush, but I think it's also a bit unsanitary, especially if you choose to dip a foundation sponge or your fingers into the pot.
I'd rather see this product come in a tube, which might be less convenient, but would be a bit more sanitary. However, most of the mousse-like foundations I've encountered at the drugstore come in a pot, so this might be more of a matter of design appeal than anything.
This foundation would be great for a wide range of skin types, because the consistency manages to be non-drying and non-oily at the same time. It's also very affordable--less than $10--so you can feel like you're splurging but still have money left over to pick up a matching concealer.
Pros: |
--Soft matte finish
--Softens the look of pores
--Affordable
--Blends well |
Cons: |
--Would be better in a tube |
